This workshop gives you the opportunity to experience the creative process of music production. Guided by experienced facilitators, you'll be introduced to digital audio workstations (DAWs), learn how instruments and vocals are recorded, and explore how beats, samples, and effects can be combined to create original music. Throughout the session, facilitators will demonstrate techniques, share professional workflows, and adapt their guidance in response to participants' ideas, interests, and creative direction. You'll also discover the fundamentals of mixing to help tracks sound balanced and polished.
Following a short introduction to the core principles of digital music production, the workshop becomes fully hands-on. Facilitators will present new techniques, demonstrate different creative approaches, and support participants as they begin creating beats, layering sounds, and experimenting with how different adjustments influence the mood and style of a track. Participants are encouraged to explore their own ideas, ask questions, and learn from one another in a collaborative environment. By the end of the workshop, you'll have created your own short piece of music from start to finish, ready to take home, share, or continue developing as part of your creative portfolio.

This workshop is led by an experienced music producer who combines professional expertise with a passion for guiding new talent.
David CrawfordDave's lifelong passion for music ignited at an early age, driving him to learn to play various instruments. He honed his recording skills with a 4-track Tascam Portastudio in his parents garage, eventually studying music production, performance, and writing at Northampton university.
An award-winning producer, Dave's work, both of his own music and client’s have featured on the airwaves of Radio 1, 1xtra, BBC 2, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, Absolute Music, BBC 5 Live as well as Sky Sports, Talksport and many more. He's been featured on Radio 1's Future Music's Best Album/EPs of 2021 and BBC Introducing in Northamptonshire for his production talents as well as other BBC Introducing stations. With a vast portfolio, Dave's expertise extends to hardware and software recording mediums like Logic Pro and Ableton Live. Inspired by boundary-pushing artists, he infuses his work with unique sounds that captivate audiences worldwide.
